Churchill, Manitoba is in the Hudson Bay-Arctic Lowlands land form region of Canada. The Hudson Bay-Arctic Lowlands are known for being made up of more water than actual land because it is made mostly up of shallow lakes, rivers and streams and up to 50% of the region is made up of water. Permafrost lies under most of the region causing patterned ground and mounds of frozen peat.
The land in the Hudson Bay lowland region is very low and is covered by swampy forests; while the Arctic lowland region has harsh cold climate that doesn't allow for much, if any farming. The land in both of the areas is mostly flat and formed from glaciation and sediment any time from the Precambrian era, to the Cenozoic era.
Churchill is in the middle of the North American tectonic plate, because of this there aren't many disasters/hazards that occur there. If anything, there are blizzards that occur quite often due to the climate, and sometimes forest fires. If anything major were to occur in Churchill, there is currently no evacuation plans in place, and the only way out is by either boat or railway.
