Transportation |
The town is relatively well known for it's railway and it's seaport. There are no actual roads that lead from Churchill to the rest of Canada so the only way in and out of the town is either by train or by boat, or by the airport that offers flights to either Winnipeg or Nunavut. Since 1929 when the Manitoba government suggested using Churchill as an "Arctic Gateway", Churchill has been the main go between for ships from Asia to drop off their containers, that could be then transported by the train to their final destinations anywhere in North America.
