Cultural Diversity & Settlement Patterns
Most of those who have settled in the area are either European or Inuit. Back when the Europeans were first arriving in the area, the land would have been prime for hunting. Equipped with the Boreal forest and the sub-arctic, along with the easy access to and from the Hudson Bay, it would have been easy to settle into. In modern time, the majority of people are drawn to the area for the polar bears, beluga whales, northern lights and bird watching. Every year these factors bring in thousands of tourists to the area and claim a few as permanent residents.
